Minimum wage in Taiwan

A statutory national minimum wage

Taiwan has a national minimum wage, set as a monthly and an hourly amount by the Ministry of Labor after a deliberation committee reviews it each year.

Headline figure (from 1 January 2026)

29,500 TWD per month

The hourly rate is 196 TWD.

Roughly US$923 a month for a full-time worker, at exchange rates of 2026-10-09. This is a rough comparison only and does not show buying power.

Check the date. Minimum wages change, in many countries every year. The figure above is the one in force at the date shown. Confirm the current amount with the official source below before you rely on it. This is general information, not legal or employment advice.

Who sets it

The Minimum Wage Deliberation Committee, with representatives of workers, employers, the Government and scholars, deliberates, and the Ministry of Labor announces the rate.

How it changes

The committee reviews the rate in the second half of each year, and a new rate normally takes effect on 1 January.

Who is covered, and who is treated differently

  • There is a monthly rate for monthly-paid workers and an hourly rate for part-time workers.

What to watch for

  • The committee meets each autumn, so the rate for the next year may already be decided.

Understand the legal system first

Taiwan belongs to the Civil law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
