Minimum wage in Finland
Finland has no statutory minimum wage. Sector collective agreements set minimum pay, and many are made generally binding by law so that they cover employers who are not members of the signing organisations.

Who sets it
Collective agreements between unions and employers' organisations set minimum pay. A national body can declare an agreement generally applicable, which makes its pay terms binding across the sector.
How it changes
Agreements are renegotiated on a cycle, and the floor changes when an agreement is renewed.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- A generally binding agreement protects employees of employers who are not members of the signing associations.
- In sectors with no agreement, a reasonable pay is the legal standard.
What to watch for
- There is no single figure to quote. Find the agreement for the sector.
Understand the legal system first
Finland belongs to the Civil law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
