Who sets it
The Government sets the SMIG and SMAG by decree, usually after talks between the Government, the main trade unions and the employers' confederation.
How it changes
Changes follow tripartite agreements and are spread over several steps. They are published in the Official Bulletin.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- The SMIG covers non-agricultural sectors, and the SMAG covers agriculture and has its own, lower, daily rate.
- The monthly amount depends on the hours worked.
