Check the date. Minimum wages change, in many countries every year. The figure above is the one in force at the date shown. Confirm the current amount with the official source below before you rely on it. This is general information, not legal or employment advice.

Who sets it

The Executive sets it by supreme decree, after talks in the National Labour and Employment Promotion Council, which has representatives of the Government, employers and workers.

How it changes

It is changed by new decree, not on a fixed date. A decree can raise it in stages.

Who is covered, and who is treated differently

  • It applies to workers in the private labour regime.

What to watch for

  • Check the latest decree in the official gazette, as it can set later stages of increase.

Understand the legal system first

Peru belongs to the Civil law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
