Check the date. Minimum wages change, in many countries every year. The figure above is the one in force at the date shown. Confirm the current amount with the official source below before you rely on it. This is general information, not legal or employment advice.

Who sets it

Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards, with representatives of Government, workers and employers, set the minimum wage in each region. A national commission supervises them.

How it changes

The regional boards can review a wage order after a period set by law, and they usually issue a new wage order when they do, so rates change at different times in different regions.

Who is covered, and who is treated differently

  • Rates differ by region and often by sector, for example agriculture and non-agriculture, and by the size of the business.
  • Rates are stated per day.

What to watch for

  • There is no one figure for the country. Find the current wage order for the region where the work is done.

Understand the legal system first

The Philippines belongs to the Mixed: civil and common law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
