Legal Practitioners Qualifying Examination (ZIALE)
For: Holders of a recognised law degree.
- Hold a law degree from Zambia, or from a foreign university recognised by the Zambia Qualifications Authority. Sources also describe a common-law Commonwealth degree as the test.
- Complete the Legal Practitioners Qualifying Examination course at ZIALE (a programme of roughly a year) and pass it.
- Be admitted to the Bar by the Chief Justice and become a member of the Law Association of Zambia.
An older route also exists: serving as an articled clerk in Zambia and passing the qualifying examination. Sources conflict on the course length and on which body recognises foreign degrees.
