Qualification and admission on the mainland
For: Law graduates who want to be admitted as advocates of the High Court.
- Complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Law School of Tanzania.
- Petition the Chief Justice, followed by scrutiny by the Council of Legal Education and an interview, and take part in the admission ceremony.
- Hold your name on the Roll, a practising certificate and a business licence.
A press explainer says that advocates in continuous practice in Kenya, Uganda or Zanzibar for the five years before applying can practise. We could not confirm this against the statute.
