The Law To Know

Learn under pressure

War Rooms

A legal clinic follows one matter at a steady pace. A war room is the opposite: many things at once, a clock, incomplete facts, and a decision that cannot wait. These rooms train the judgement that law school rarely tests: deciding what to check, what to trust, what to do first and what to say.

  • Many challenges at once

Each room puts several problems in front of you together, as real work does, not one neat question at a time.

  • Checked by code

Wherever something can be checked, the room checks it and shows you exactly where you were right or wrong.

  • AI inside the room

Several rooms use a real AI that you must supervise: the point is to learn to verify, not to trust or distrust everything.

The Deal Room

A transaction with a pile of paper and a deadline: find what matters, what is wrong and what must happen by when.

  1. Closing NightLabAct for a buyer on the night before completion: a missing signature, a late search, a side letter, changed bank details and the lender's certificate, against a 17:00 deadline.
  2. Due Diligence Data RoomLabReview twenty contracts for a buyer: find the problems that change the price, with your findings checked.
  3. Contract Pipeline LabLabTurn a contract into clauses, data, faults and a calendar; check a real AI field by field for invented values and quotes.
  4. The Notice DrillLabUnlimited practice in notice periods, renewals and dates, where one slip means a missed right.
  5. The negotiation behind itCourseThe method for the talks that run alongside the paper: interests, numbers, trades and pressure.

The Verification Room

An AI has written something that looks right. You have the sources and ten minutes: what can be relied on, and what must be fixed?

  1. Hearing MorningLabThree hours before an urgent hearing: an AI-drafted skeleton with invented cases, a late bundle, a client who wants the facts stretched and a judge's question.
  2. The Verification LabLabFreeAn AI-written memo and a pack of sources: decide sentence by sentence what the sources support. The first exercise is free.
  3. The Judgment Stress TestLabA case where the right answer needs judgement, and a polished AI answer that is subtly wrong.
  4. The Contradiction EngineLabFind where two rules, two documents or two statements cannot both be right, and decide what to do.
  5. Checking Legal AI ToolsCourseThe method behind it: planted errors, recall and precision, sampling, governance. Module 1 is free.

The News-Desk Room

A story breaks. Is it a legal problem, whose, and what can you fairly say?

  1. The Case DeskLabFreeFour invented news stories: spot the legal questions, then work the big one in ten steps. The first edition is free.
  2. Task TriageLabSort the tasks of a lawyer, a judge or a prosecutor into what AI may draft, what needs checking and what must never be given to it.

On the drawing board

  • A press-call room: a client in the headlines and a reporter on the line.

The Crisis Room

Something has gone wrong and the clock is running. Decide what to preserve, what to say, who to tell and what not to do.

  1. The BreachLabFreeA Friday-night data breach: eight decisions before Monday against a 72-hour regulator clock, from evidence and ransom to notice, press and privilege.
  2. The Night Before TrialLabSunday evening before a four-day trial: a witness who will not attend, an error in the expert report, a privileged email, a late offer, an exhausted team and an opening that must stay accurate.
  3. The WhistleblowerLabAn employee reports a director for fraud: reply, choose who investigates, preserve evidence quietly, stop retaliation, interview fairly, report in time and close well, across two weeks.
  4. The Dawn RaidLabInvestigators arrive with a warrant: check it, brief staff, protect privilege, stop deletion, protect staff rights and handle the press.

On the drawing board

  • A cyber-insurance claim room: a policy condition, a reservation of rights and a late notice.
  • A merger-clearance room: a regulator's questions and a closing date that cannot move.

The Pressure Room

The human side of a crisis: the call nobody wants to make, the partner who wants it now, the day that is too long.

  1. Cooling the RoomCourseDe-escalate, hold a hard conversation and choose a process when tempers are high.
  2. Steady Under LoadCourseNotice strain early, steady yourself and keep working well through a long crisis.
  3. The Hours You HaveCoursePrioritise when everything is urgent, protect hard deadlines and hand work on well.

The war rooms on the drawing board will be single, longer exercises with several linked challenges and a clock, such as a data breach on a Friday night or a regulator arriving at the door. They will be built from the same engines as the rooms above.
