Module 6
Business, employment, tax and social security: the entrepreneur, companies, foreign investment, contracts, employment, dismissal, taxes and social insurance
Italy is one of Europe’s largest economies, with a dense network of **small and family businesses**, a **detailed employment law** built on **collective bargaining**, and a **complex tax system**. A foreign business or worker meets the **Civil Code**, the **EU single market rules**, **national statutes** and **collective agreements** at the same time. This module explains the framework in the order a business meets it: the **form of presence**, **investment rules**, **contracts**, **employment and dismissal**, **tax** and **social security**. It states **durable rules**, not **rates or thresholds**, which change.
This course explains the law of Italy, not US law. Rules that look the same elsewhere may be different.

See what is included in the Courses & AI Lab Pass →General education on the law of Italy, using invented people and businesses. It states laws and procedures in simplified form and is not legal advice. The law and its practice change, and every case turns on its facts and on the authority concerned. It does not offer legal representation or a legal opinion on any case. Consult an Italian avvocato for any real matter.
