Who This Page Is For

This portal collects material on the law of the United Arab Emirates, a federation whose legal system combines civil-law codes, Islamic Sharia and, in the DIFC and the ADGM, common law. It is written for readers who visit, live, work or do business in the UAE or want to understand its legal system, and it explains laws, institutions and procedures without giving legal advice or opinions on individual cases. Each emirate and free zone may have its own rules. Everywhere else on this site, content reflects US law unless a page says otherwise.
