Who This Page Is For
This portal collects material specific to German law, a civil-law system with its own method, its own vocabulary and its own training for lawyers, which also applies European Union law. Each of the sixteen federal states (the Länder) has some laws and courts of its own. Everywhere else on this site, content reflects US law unless a page says otherwise.
