The FE-1 (Final Examination - First Part) is the Law Society of Ireland's entrance examination for qualification as a solicitor, held twice yearly in Spring and Autumn - a single, unified national exam, not fragmented by region the way some other jurisdictions' admission processes are. Each of the 8 subjects is its own separate 3-hour exam, built from essay and problem questions - real issue-spotting and applied legal analysis, not primarily multiple-choice, and not open-book (though specific statutes are permitted for certain subjects).
