How to use it
- When: someone is doing something that harms you or breaks your rights (using your work, name or trademark without permission, spreading false statements, harassing you, breaching a confidentiality or non-compete promise, entering your property) and you want to ask them, in writing, to stop.
- Before you send: be sure of the facts and of your right. Collect proof (screenshots with dates, copies, witnesses).
- Fill in everything in [square brackets] and delete the options you do not use. Describe exactly what you want them to stop doing and by when.
- Keep it calm and factual. Do not insult, exaggerate or threaten anything that is not lawful.
- Send it by a method you can prove: registered post, courier, or e-mail with read receipt. Keep a copy and the proof.
- Not for: a debt (use the payment demand letter), a breach of a contract term (use the notice of breach letter), or a threat of criminal charges to get money.
