Most of the people who live in the UAE are **foreign residents**, and their legal life runs on a few things: the **residence permit**, the **Emirates ID**, the **employment contract**, **health insurance** and the **tenancy contract**. The rules are **strict and formal**, and **mistakes** such as **working on the wrong visa**, **overstaying** or **breaking public-conduct rules** can bring **fines, detention and deportation**. The rules are also **modern and clear**: a **federal labour law** sets **minimum rights**, **new visa categories** allow longer stays, and **government platforms** manage most procedures. This module follows a resident from **entry** to **work** to **leaving a job**, then covers **housing and everyday conduct**. **Fees, thresholds and visa lists change often**, so check the current rule.
This course explains the law of the United Arab Emirates, not US law. Rules that look the same elsewhere may be different. This covers the federal law of the UAE, with notes on the emirates and the free zones that have their own rules.
