Capstone
Capstone: Anna Weber and the bicycle workshop
Anna Weber is an invented bicycle mechanic who runs a small workshop and online shop in Stuttgart as a sole trader, with six employees. In one year, several things happen. She dismisses **Tobias**, a mechanic of four years, with a short letter that gives no reason; he says the real reason is that he refused to work unpaid overtime. Her web shop shows a **cargo e-bike for 300 euros instead of 3,000**, because of a typing error; a customer orders it at once, and an automatic message from her system says ‘your order is accepted’. She notices the next morning. The **city** sends her a written order to remove the advertising stand on the pavement in front of the shop. Her **father** has died; his will leaves everything to her brother, and nothing to her. The estate is worth about 400,000 euros, and her mother died earlier. And **Murat**, another mechanic, is **arrested** by the police on a customer’s complaint that he stole money from a till; he phones Anna from the station. You are asked to advise. Use the questions you have learned: which court branch and which court, which rule, which time limit and what remedy. The people are invented and the facts simplified, so state your assumptions.
This course explains the law of Germany, not US law. Rules that look the same elsewhere may be different.
