A self-education toolkit · United States first
Be Your Own Advocate
Understand your situation. Know your rights and your duties. Know when you need a lawyer.
Most people do not need to pay for a long conference to understand their own problem. They need to understand the system it lives in: who decides, by what procedure, by which deadline and with what evidence. This toolkit teaches that map, so you can handle what you safely can yourself and know exactly when to call a lawyer.
A map, not just an answer
More and more people ask an AI about their problem and receive an answer that may well be correct. But when it says that a provision of a statute was breached, they cannot tell what that means, how serious it is, what the procedure is, how long they have, or whether the answer is even for their state. Law is a system. Once you know the system, you can use any answer, from a lawyer, from an AI or from a friend, and you can check it. That is the skill this toolkit teaches.
We never promise to solve a case. We help you understand the law, find your way through it with confidence and keep a record that serves you, whether you go on alone or hand it to a lawyer.
What is inside
1. The course: How Law Works, The Map
Six short modules and a capstone: where legal rules come from, who decides, the road a dispute travels, the clocks, proof, and how to read a statute and test any answer, including an AI answer. Module 1 is free.
2. Six situation guides
Every guide uses the same page, so you learn the pattern once: the system on one page, your rights and duties, the clock, what you can do yourself, the evidence to keep, the red flags that mean you should hire a lawyer, the words to know, and where to look in your state.
Home and Housing
A deposit that is not returned. A repair the landlord ignores. A notice to leave. Buying a home and what the paperwork means.
Work
A dismissal that feels wrong. Unpaid wages. A contract you were asked to sign. Discrimination and what counts as it.
Money and Debt
A debt collector’s letter. A credit report error. Small claims court. A scam, and what you can still do.
Family
Divorce and separation. Children and support. A will, and what happens without one.
Everyday Problems
A faulty product, a car, an insurance claim, a subscription you cannot cancel, an online purchase gone wrong.
Police and Courts
A traffic ticket, a stop, a summons, jury duty, and what actually happens in a courtroom.
3. The tools
- Check an AI AnswerFree to try
Paste an answer and get a checklist: which jurisdiction, which date, which claims need a source, which citations to verify, what the answer leaves out.
- Do I Need a Lawyer?
A short triage on the stakes, the deadline, the other side and what is at risk, ending with routes to affordable help.
- The Clock
Which deadlines can apply to your kind of problem, where to look yours up, and a date calculator.
- Which Forum?
Small claims, regular court, an agency or mediation: where a problem of your kind usually starts.
- Case Binder
A private timeline and evidence list that stays in your browser, with a printable summary for you or for a lawyer.
- Letter Builder
Demand and dispute letters with a plain-English note beside each clause, so you know what you are sending.
- Statute Breakdown
Split a legal provision into who, what, conditions, exceptions and remedy, with practice exercises.
When you need a lawyer, you will know
This toolkit is not a way to avoid lawyers. Some matters need one: a serious criminal charge, a large amount of money, a deadline that is close, a court case where the other side has counsel, anything involving your children, your immigration status or your liberty. Every guide ends with the red flags for its kind of problem, and the Do I Need a Lawyer? tool tells you how to find affordable help: legal aid, bar referral services and lawyers who help with only part of a case.
One purchase, kept for ever
The full toolkit is $149, once. It is not a subscription, and it is not part of the Courses & AI Lab Pass. You get the whole course and its certificate, the six situation guides and every tool, and you keep them. Try first: the first module of the course and the Check an AI Answer tool are free, and you do not need an account for either.

- Is this legal advice?
- No. It is general legal education. It explains how the system works and what questions to ask; it does not tell you what to do in your case, predict an outcome or replace a lawyer. For anything with serious consequences, you should speak to one, and the toolkit tells you how to recognise those cases.
- Will you solve my case?
- No, and no honest product can promise that. The toolkit helps you understand the law, find your way through the system with confidence, keep a good record and recognise when you need a professional. The result of any case depends on its facts, the proof and the decision-maker.
- Which country is it for?
- The United States first, with the principles that hold across the country and a ‘where to look in your state’ step, because state law varies a great deal. California, New York, Texas, Florida and Illinois come first, and other jurisdictions follow, starting with England and Wales.
- Will it make me a lawyer?
- No. It gives no diploma and no right to represent anyone else. It helps you understand your own situation, handle what you safely can and recognise when you need a professional.
- Why not just ask an AI?
- An AI can give a quick answer, and it is often right. But an answer without the map is hard to use: you do not know what a quoted provision means, how far you are from the line, what the procedure is or whether the answer is for your state and today’s date. The toolkit teaches the system so that you can use any answer, from a person or from an AI, and check it.
- Is it a subscription?
- No. It is one payment, and you keep it. It is not part of the Courses & AI Lab Pass; it is its own product. There are free previews first: the first module of the course and the Check an AI Answer tool.
- Does my Case Binder go to your servers?
- No. The Case Binder, and every other tool, runs in your own browser. What you type is not sent to us. The binder is saved on your device only, so download a backup now and then.
General education only, written for readers in the United States first. It is not legal advice, creates no lawyer-client relationship and does not replace a lawyer. Laws differ by state and change; check the current rules for your situation.
